Virtual Private Cloud

An Amazon VPC allows you to provision a separate, isolated section of the AWS cloud where you can deploy AWS resources in a virtual network that you define. You control your virtual networking environment, including selecting your own IP address range, creating subnets, and configuring network gateways.

In keeping with best practices related to security, do not use the default Amazon VPC when deploying Teradata Software for AWS instances. The default VPC is open to the AWS public cloud. To create a VPC, see Create a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) under Setting Up in the Amazon User Guide for Linux Instances.

See also AWS Security Best Practices and Amazon Virtual Private Cloud Connectivity Options.

For subnets, you must enable auto-assignment of public IP addresses.
