Increasing AWS Service Limits

The following procedure is for increasing EBS, EC2 instances, and VPC elastic IP address limits, but can be applied to increasing any AWS service limit. For more information on Amazon EC2 service limits, see Amazon User Guide for Linux Instances.
  1. From the EC2 Console, click Limits.
  2. Do one of the following:.
    • Under EBS Limits, locate the General Purpose (SSD) volume storage.
    • Under Instance Limits, locate the instance for which you want to increase the limit.
  3. Under Action, click Request limit increase.
The Support Center opens and the Create Case page displays.
  4. Do the following to create a case:
    1. [Optional] For CC, enter the email addresses of people to be notified when the status of the case changes.
If you are signed in as an IAM user, include your own email address. If you are signed in with your email address and password, you do not need to include your email address.
    2. For Regarding, select Service Limit Increase.
    3. For Limit Type, do one of the following:
      • Select EBS.
      • Select EC2 Instances.
      • Select EC2-VPC Elastic IPs.
    4. Select or search for the region where you want to apply this change.
    5. [Optional] Click Add another request if you want to increase the limits in other regions if you are launching additional Teradata Database AMIs.
    6. For Use Case Description, type the limit you are requesting and the reason you need the increase.
Ensure your description is as detailed as possible and includes information that is beneficial to the Amazon Service Team.
Depending on how large of increase you are requesting, it may take extra time for the Amazon Service Team to approve your request. For example, if you are requesting an EBS limit increase from 20 TiB to 200 TiB, it may take around 24-48 hours for your request to be approved.
    7. For Support Language, select your language.
    8. For Contact method, select the way you want to be contacted.
    9. Click Submit.
A summary email with a Case ID number is sent to you. You will receive additional email notifications when the limit has been approved or if the Amazon Service Team needs more information.
