Teradata QueryGrid within the Public Cloud

When configuring Teradata QueryGrid for connections between Teradata Database, Teradata Aster, or Hadoop systems in the public cloud, define network settings in the security groups as listed below.

The following terms are used in the table below:
  • Local system as the system on which the user logs on.
  • Remote system as the system that the user accesses using the foreign server grammar.
Software Direction Ports Description
Local Teradata instance Outbound

Allows connection to the remote Teradata, Aster, Presto, or Hadoop instance.

Specifies the remote Teradata Database instance security group as the source.

Local Teradata instance Inbound PTL listen
  • 5000 (Teradata)
  • 5001 (Aster)
  • 5002 (Hadoop)

Allows connection and transfer from the remote Teradata, Aster, Presto, or Hadoop instance.

Specifies the remote Teradata Database instance security group as the source.

Remote Teradata Database instance Inbound 1025

Allows connection from the local Teradata Database instance using JDBC.

Specifies the local Teradata Database instance security group as the source.

AWS Hadoop (Presto) instance Inbound
  • 8080
  • 21337
Allows communication from the Teradata Database instance.
Note:
These ports must be opened on all Hadoop nodes.
Teradata Aster instance Inbound
  • 8080
  • 21337
Allows communication from the Teradata Database instance to the AWS Aster instance.
Note:
These ports must be opened on all Teradata Aster nodes.

In addition, define the foreign server objects using the private IP address of the remote and local Teradata Database instances on AWS.
