Elastic IP Addresses
An elastic IP address is a static IP address designed for dynamic cloud computing and is associated with your AWS account. With an elastic IP address, you can mask the failure of an instance of software by rapidly remapping the address to another instance in your account.
Teradata Database on AWS uses EC2-VPC elastic IP addresses. Although you can use EC2-VPC elastic IP addresses for all Teradata ecosystems, we strongly recommend you use them for Minimum Production and Full Production Teradata ecosystems. In case of node failure, assigning EC2-VPC elastic IP addresses to the public IP addresses of each instance enables you to reconnect without having to update the Teradata cop entry IP addresses.
For more information on using elastic IP addresses, see Amazon User Guide for Linux Instances.
